Annual property value growth of 18.1% since 1996 is primarily a product of the emergence of Cardington Yutaka Technologies (CYT), a Honda parts subsidiary, as well as residential investment. Similarly, employment growth at CYT has led to a sharp increase in income tax revenues, which have grown from $168,952 in 1996 to $725,498 in 2006. Cardington's population, which is currently estimated to be 2,023, has also demonstrated modest growth of 1.7% annually since 1997.
In 2006, the Village of Cardington had total revenues of $2.45 million. $1.2 million of these revenues were collected by the Village's water and wastewater utilities, which are enjoying significant revenue growth due to a four year rate adjustment plan, as well as strengthened management practices. This growth in revenues is allowing the Village to actively replace critical infrastructure, and formulate plans for future expansion.
