ATTENTION:  As of January 1, 2006 all Income Tax questions and payments should be directed to the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) which is processing income tax returns on behalf of the Village.

 

Overview
Cardington imposes a 1% income tax on all income earned within the Village. All residents, 19 years and older, are required to file annually an individual income tax form with the Village.

I live in the Village, but work elsewhere, do I still need to file an income tax form?
Yes, all residents of the Village of Cardington are required to file annually an individual income tax form with the Village. Cardington residents who pay income tax to another municipality will receive up to 1% credit for taxes paid to other cities.

If I work in the Village but live elsewhere do I still pay Village of Cardington Income Tax?
Yes, all persons who work within the Village of Cardington pay a 1% income tax to the Village of Cardington. Non-residents are, however, not required to file an individual income tax form with the Village.

Do contractors who occassionally work in the Village of Cardington need to file an income tax form with the Village?
Yes, unless (1) the services are performed on no more than 12 days in a calendar year, and (2) the principal place of business of the non-resident individual's employer is located outside the Village of Cardington.

I'm retired and have no earned income. Do I still need to file?
Yes, all persons who reside within the Village of Cardington must file an annual income tax form with the Village.
